Affordable Technology #2: Bluboo S8

We all love new tech things and want to have the fastest phone, the best camera and the newest features, right? Some people don’t but there are a lot of people who are getting the new iPhone or Samsung when it comes out. But why? It is really expensive, but is it that much better than an other, cheaper phone from an unknown brand? Let’s find out! For today we will look at the Bluboo S8!

Every week I will highlight an affordable phone, smartwatch, tablet or any other tech. Follow me and be the first who saves money by buying new tech!

Introduction of Bluboo

Bluboo was found in 2006 and, according to their website, they are devoted to bring the latest and high-quality smart mobile devices. As of now Bluboo already sent products to over 30 countries world wide, including Europe, South-America and South-Africa. With the high-quality, latest technology and user-friendly services, Bluboo gains wide favor of global customers.

Latest Bluboo Products

The latest products in the Bluboo line are the Bluboo S1 and the Bluboo S8 (which is a Samsung Galaxy S8 clone). But that is not all, thy have a total of 16 phones and 1 smartwatch. Which is, for an unknown brand, an enormous line up of phones available. Are they all high-quality? Right now I own 2 devices, the Bluboo S1 and theBluboo S8. Currently I am working on the review of the Bluboo S1, but the review of the Bluboo S8 is already available, you can read it here.

What can we expect from Bluboo?

The brand is, for me, unknown but has a great line up with some good hardware. Are they able to provide this kind of high-quality products? If we have to believe the website, yes. They are showing two new products, the Bluboo S2 and the Bluboo S8+.
The Bluboo S8+ is just a bigger version of the normal S8 and the Bluboo S2 is a Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 clone.

Now we just have to wait and see if they are affordable, or the price will go up (like we see with other brands).

How is the Bluboo S8?

The specifications of the Bluboo S8 are pretty good for the price. The price, while I’m writing this, is 130 Euros, which is way less than the big brother Samsung Galaxy S8. For the price we can say that this is a real top smartphone.

Here are some of the basic specifications:

  • Size: 149.5 x 70.6 x 8.4mm
  • Battery: 3450 mAh (non-removable), Lithium-Ion Polymer, MediaTek PE+ Fast Charge (9V/2A)
  • Processor: MTK6750T Octa-Core 1,5 GHz (4x 1.5 GHz ARM Cortex-A53, 4x 1.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A53)
  • GPU: ARM Mali T860 MP2 @ 650MHz
  • RAM: 3GB
  • Storage: 32GB
  • OS: Android 7.0
  • Connector: USB 2.0 (Type-C)
  • LED Notification: No
  • Weight: 192 g
  • For 130 Euros this is a real super phone, right? If it works good, this is a real good phone. Bluboo made the phone work smooth and fast with several apps open. If you need a budget phone which looks like the Samsung Galaxy S8, this is the phone for you!

Ofcourse this phone can not perform the same as the Samsung or the iPhone. Gaming wise the phone is not the best, you can play it, but the graphic and the speed will not be the best. Also the camera is not the greatest camera. You can make decent photo’s, but if you ike to take photo’s more than normal, skip this phone.

There is also another down side. With an Samsung, Lenovo or many other brands, you can change the Launcher. With the Bluboo S8 that is not possible. The Launcher is locked and you are unable to tweak the phone how you like it.

    Conclusion

The Bluboo S8 is a good working, good looking phone for the price. If you just want to use WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram this is a real bargain and will satisfy you (probably). The Bluboo S8 works smooth and will keep you company for the whole day (if you use it normally). There are some things that are not that great like, not able to change the Launcher and the camera quality, but that is why you are paying 130 Euros instead of 800 Euros!

I would recommend this phone to phone who are basic users and are not heavy photo taking gaming users.
