There are a lot of devices available to connect your smartphone to your car so you can listen to your own music. A lot of them failed, but Xiaomi made it work! The Xiaomi Roidmi 3S does not look like an FM transmitter, but it works the best. No cables, no switching channel every 5 minutes. Basically, just plug and play!

We use our phone more in the car. That may sound weird, but I do. I never used Spotify in the car, but since I use Waze (great app!) I do. This navigation app works super easy and has Spotify controls built-in. With the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S, I can charge my device, get the directions, control the music, and transmit the music from Spotify to my car! Amazing!

Unboxing

The box is small and in the iconic Xiaomi design. White with the specifications on the back. Inside the box, we find a very short manual and the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S of course. On the Roidmi 3S, is a sticker with the app that you need to download to use it.

Hardware & Design

The size of the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S is something we see more often with car chargers. It is not too big and it is just a simple design. I like the feeling of the Roidmi 3S since it has a bit of extra weight. It gives me that premium feeling I’m looking for in gadgets.

Plugging it in is easy and it is dummy-proof, no way to put it in the wrong way or something.

Charging

There are two USB ports on the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S. Both give you 5V and 2.4A of power. This means you can not fast charge your device. All the power I gain in my car is a win for me. If I navigate to somewhere and I get out of the car with more power then I started, I’m a happy man!

Roidmi App

You need to download the Roidmi app to use the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S. This application is free for Android and iOS and can be downloaded via the link below. In the app, you need to choose what device you have, so in this case, you will choose the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S. Make sure that the Roidmi 3S is in the car already and you made the Bluetooth connection.

The app will see that the Bluetooth connection is made and now will find, automatically, the best frequency to use. When it found the right frequency, just navigate to that specific frequency on your car radio and you are good to go!

FM Transmittor

Now that the Roidmi app found the best frequency to use, you can start your favorite Spotify playlist. Instead of coming from the smartphone speaker, it will come from the car radio now. I love this and I tried a lot of different products, but they did not work as well as the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S.

I had 3 or 4 different kinds of transmitters and I had to change frequency almost every 5 minutes. Now with the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S, I was fine and had clear sound for a ride that was almost 3 hours long! If you struggle with that same issue, get the Xiaomi Roidmi 3S.

Auto Start

The Xiaomi Roidmi 3S has an auto start/connect feature. This means that when you start your car, it will automatically start the Roidmi 3S and make a connection with your smartphone. Now you just have to go to the right frequency and play your playlist.

Conclusion

This will solve a lot of problems we all face in the car. We can listen to the music we like without extra cables. Charging your own smartphone and the one from your passenger is no issue anymore. There are two USB ports that you can use to charge devices. Unfortunately, it does not support fast charging, but I’m happy I can charge my phone while streaming music and navigating.
