The Madv Mini is a very nice and small 360 degree camera. You can shoot video’s on 1920 x 1080 at 30 FPS. There is a built-in microphone as well. The size and the simple way of controlling the Madv Mini makes this a very nice camera for the coming vacations.

Unboxing

It is a complicated but nice box. You can see the camera right away. On the sides we have information, specifications and the app we need to use. We see that there is a dual 13MP camera and that you can use it to live broadcast the captured video’s. The app we need is called “Madv Mini” and is available in the Google Play Store.

Hardware & Design

I really like the size of the Madv Mini. It is smaller then other 360 degree camera’s I’ve seen. The protector that is provided protects the lenses very well and make it really easy to carry with you without damaging the lens.

The Madv Mini itself feels good and does not feel fragile at all. The protective sleeve over the lenses are working really well and feel durable. I’ve seen protector which could break any second, but the one provided by Madv feel good.

The USB Type C connector is straight and looks good. It connected easily and it have a good connection. Even though the camera is heavier then the charger cable, it won’t fall out whatsoever.

Software

The application is only available on Android, since it has a USB C connector, which is not available for iOS. The app itself is really simple, but that is the beauty of it as well. It is basically a plug and play system. Download and open the app, connect the camera and shoot amazing 360 photo’s!

The app has some more cool feature. You can easily create a GIF from the captured images. Select the 360 degree photo you’d like to create a GIF from. Select the three dots on the top right corner and select GIF. It will automatically create the GIF and you can share it via WhatsApp or Telegram for example.

You can also set a filter or change the conditions. It is fun to play with and it can make your photo even better.

How to connect?

The Madv Mini is basically a plug and play device. All you have to do is download the app, plug in the camera and start shooting 360 degree photo’s! There is nothing more to do. No Bluetooth connection required, no WiFi network access needed or any other special action. This a big plus if you ask me.

If I’m in a place where I want to take a 360 degree photo, I just plug it in and start shooting. It will only take about 3-4 seconds to start shooting with the Madv Mini.

Photo Quality

I thought that the quality of the 360 degree photo’s would be a little less since it will cover a wider area. Luckily the Madv Mini changed my view on that. The photo’s come out really sharp and you can take them pretty quickly after each other. You can set the quality of the photo’s on two different resolutions. The highest is 5376×2668 and the second option is 3840×1920. The photo taken below is taken on 3840×1920.

Video Quality

I’m not so happy about the video quality of the Madv Mini. The photo’s come out really good, but the video’s are not as good as I hoped. It is still fun to shoot video’s and look around, but the quality could have been better. Have a look at the video below. It is just me walking a bit, but you can see that the quality is not super good.

How to share?

It is not widely supported yet, but that will come soon, believe me. If you want to share your captured 360 photo on Instagram, you have to make a Tiny Planet photo from it and you are good to go! View the Tiny Planet photo’s I’ve created using the Madv Mini on my Instagram.

If you want to make a video and upload it to YouTube, you have to add some metadata to the video before YouTube knows that it is a 360 degree video. All the information can be found HERE.

Conclusion

The Madv Mini is a really good product. It works almost like plug and play and you are able to share the taken 360 degree photo’s right from the app. It is easy to operate and with the good photo quality it is a really nice gadget for the summer. Being able to take a photo and have a 360 degree look around you is really nice.

The video quality is not as good as I hoped, but it is still fun to take video’s with the Madv Mini. It will also drain the battery pretty hard if you take a photo or video with it. I would recommend buying a PowerBank with it so that you can charge when you are not taking shots.

If you want to share the taken video on YouTube, you have to install another program and add metadata, but it is not that hard. Photo’s can be shared more easily via the Madv Mini app itself.

Overall the Madv Mini is a nice product, it is easy to control and super fun to take pictures with. The price is high but the quality of the photo’s is high and it is worth it if you ask me. This is my gadget for this summer!
