I’ve seen a lot of ads on YouTube and online which, almost all the time, annoy me. One add did not and it was the one from Grammarly. For Techrvw, I’m always looking for ways to improve the quality of my writing, and with Grammarly, I can. This amazing piece of software allows me to write cleaner and better sentences in English.
Introduction
Making your website, your blog post or whatever you do online in English makes it way more accessible. Almost everybody speaks English and that makes the potential audience enormous. With this in mind, you don’t want to make mistakes, right? The Grammarly founders, Brad Hoover, Max Lytvyn, Dmytro Lider, and Alex Shevchenko thought so too. They created a very powerful online tool to improve your writing. Does the free option really work? Let’s have a look!
Grammarly
Grammarly is an online grammar checking, spell checking, and plagiarism detection platform. Brad Hoover, Max Lytvyn, Dmytro Lider, and Alex Shevchenko are the founders of Grammarly. It was developed in 2009 by Alex Shevchenko and Max Lytvyn, in Kyiv. The backend grammar engine is written in Common Lisp. The app is owned by Grammarly Inc. Brad Hoover is the company’s chief executive officer.

For Android and iOS, you have a keyboard which will correct you, there are browser add-ins, a native app, and support for Microsoft Office. I’m in love with Grammarly and I really like the way they made a limited, but well working, version available for free.

For Android and iOS, there is a keyboard available which will correct you while you are writing your email on your smartphone or make your Instagram post. Spelling errors are unacceptable on your Instagram and the Grammarly Keyboard will prevent you from posting those thumb mistakes.

Grammarly Extensions/Add-Ins
It doesn’t matter what browser you use, Grammarly has support for the top 4 browsers. If you are using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari or Microsoft Edge, you can get a browser extension/add-in to correct your writing in the browser! It doesn’t matter what page you are writing on, it will correct it in the current page. I use it with WordPress and it works just great.

Grammarly for Microsoft Office (Windows only)
A lot of you probably work on a Windows computer at home or at work and write your text and work documents in Microsoft Word. Grammarly knows that too and they made Grammarly available for Microsoft Office. This is great and you don’t have to use a different program to process text, just use your well known Microsoft Word.
Right now, this feature is only available for Windows. Hopefully, it will come to Mac too, a lot of you are using Microsoft Word on a Mac too.

How Does Grammarly Work?
I thought the same. How can this free software improve my writing? Are there a set of standard rules to follow or is it all pre-programmed? Grammaly does it differently, here is how!

How to correct mistakes?
When you use the software, Grammarly will underline the error hey found with red. When you hoover over it with your mouse or click on it on your smartphone or tablet, Grammarly will give you suggestions on the error. Just click on the suggestions and it is changed instantly. This will save time and easily make your writing better.

You have two account types, free and premium. With free I mean absolutely free and no 30-day free trial. If you want, you can keep using the free account for as long as you want. If, however, you want to upgrade to premium and enjoy more writing improvement features, you have three choices:
If we just look at the pricing, the annual payment is, of course, the best deal for you. For $139.95 you can write like a pro and that is not expensive at all. It doesn’t matter if you are in high school working on your graduation paper, a lawyer working on a case or a website owner who wants to improve his writing. Everybody can use Grammarly and I’m 100% you will benefit from it too.
Free Features
There is a free option. This means you do NOT have to pay to improve your writing. Grammarly makes sure you see the great potential of the software and with the paid features, your writing will improve even more. What are the features of the completely free option?
Yes, this is basic but it will solve a lot of writing errors for you. Even with this, I’m 100% sure that this will have a positive impact on your writing. Don’t get fooled that this “Critical grammar and spelling checks” might be too limited, it is not. It is very advanced and will help you out.
Paid Features

Genre-specific writing check? Really? That is amazing! Also, the Plagiarism detector is great and it checks over 16 million pages! How cool is that? Never get a bad grade at school or university again with this checker.
The Difference Between Free and Premium
The free Grammarly is limited of course, but that does not mean it is not worth it. Even with the free Grammarly version, you will improve your writing. The premium features are really cool and will improve your writing even more, but I think that is more related to business use. I would recommend everybody to get at least the free version.

Grammarly (FREE) is just great. You will significantly improve your writing by taking out the small spelling errors or the missing punctuation marks. Your writing will look more professional which can lead to great results. (More followers, better jobs, new opportunities)
