Review: Blitzwolf BW-SHP6 – Small Smart Socket With Great Price

We recently had the Blitzwolf BW-SHP2 and I loved it! It is so easy that make your house smarter and even save money on the electricity bill, what else can we whish for? Well, a better and smaller smart socket! The Blitzwolf BW-SHP6! How is this socket is different from the Blitzwolf BW-SHP2?

Introduction & Specifications

We already know that the Blitzwolf BW-SHP2 is packed with all the features e like and expect in a smart socket. It is affordable and setting it up is super easy. What can the Blitzwolf BW-SHP6 bring to the table?

The specs are slightly different but the most significant change is the size. The Blitzwolf BW-SHP6 is smaller and that makes it even less noticeable when you plug it into the wall socket.

Unboxing

We had some Blitzwolf products already, like the Blitzwolf BW-SHP2 or the BW-FYE1, and the packaging is always the same, which I like.

Opening the box, we see the the user manual and a satisfaction card. Underneath the cards, we have the BW-SHP6 socket. The first thing that is noticed, is that it is way smaller then the Blitzwolf BW-SHP2. This is a good thing! The smaller the socket, the better.

Those are the only things in the box. Just like the Blitzwolf BW-SHP2, Blitzwolf does not waste any paper or plastic which I highly like.

Hardware & Design

The Blitzwolf BW-SHP2 is not big but the BW-SHP6 is even smaller and I like it. It is not much bigger then the plug you normally use. Right now, this is by far the smallest smart socket we had to this day.

Blitzwolf creates good looking, premium feeling products for some time now and I like it very much. The Blitzwolf BW-SHP6 feels good and is worth every penny spend on it. Maybe there are cheaper options, but I guarantee you it does not feel and look as premium as the Blitzwolf BW-SHP6.

The button on the Blitzwolf BW-SHP6 feels good and is easily clickable. I don’t use it that often though, I make a digital click with the app Smart Life.

Features

In the app, I use the Smart Life (more on the app below), you can control the socket. There are different things you can do with the socket:

– Turn it on/off
– Set up a schedule
– Use a timer to turn on/off
– See the usage (per month)
– Google Assistant/Alexa is available

All these options give you the great ability to control your house and the BlitzWolf BW-SHP6. Turn on the energy consuming AC just before you arrive home or turn it off when you are set to leave the house. With the controls of the Smart Life app, this is all possible.

At the end of the month, you can easily see which device uses the most energy and maybe, if you want, use it less to save money. This gives you a great overview of the devices that use the most and where you can save money from.

Software

There are two apps (possibly more) that you can use with the BlitzWolf BW-SHP6. One of them is the BlitzWolf app, which I did not use. It is recommended to use the Smart Life app, and that is the one I used for this review too.

Once you find the app in the App/Play store, you have to download it (Dúh!) and open it to register. This can be done via mail or via your phone number.

Once you are logged in, you can set up your current location. Why? On the home screen, it will show you the current temperature, air pressure, and humidity at the time of opening. Handy but not a requirement. To add your BlitzWolf BW-SHP6 to the Smart Life app, you have to press the “+” sign in the top right corner.

In the next screen, you have to select what kind of device you want to add. In this case, we are going to add an “Electrical Outlet”. Press the top option and follow the steps that follow. At the WiFi screen, make sure it is connected to a 2.4GHz WiFi network. A 5GHz network is not supported. Log in with the details of the WiFi network and the connection will be made automatically.

Now that the socket is available, you can set it up just how you like. Turn it on with the timer or set up a schedule and make your house more efficient and smarter!

Google Assistent Connection

If you have a Google Home or a Google Home Mini, you can make the connection with Smart Life. This means that you can control the socket with your voice and Google Assistant! All you have to do is log in with your account details of the Smart Life (Smart Life is a supported and connected app in the list of available apps) on the Google Home app (to make the connection) and you can add the socket in the desired room. Name them correctly so you know which socket is located where.

Conclusion

The Blitzwolf BW-SHP6 is a great product to make your house smarter. The price is low compared to alternative smart sockets, but higher then the Blitzwolf BW-SHP2. If you want to make your house smart on a budget, you might consider the BW-SHP2.

The app, Smart Life, works great and it is easy to set up. Besides the great app, you can control the Blitzwolf BW-SHP6 with Google Home or Amazon Alexa. Just ask Google to turn on the T or ask Alexa to turn off the lights.

Considering the price, this is a great option and I love the Blitzwolf smart sockets. The BW-SHP6 is smaller but a little bit more expensive while the Blitzwolf BW-SHP2 is cheaper but a little bit bigger. Decision is up to you, both are just great products.
