The Mifa S1 is a pair of wireless earbuds, just like the Meizu EP52 Lite. You can wear this kind of earbuds while working out and not worry about them falling on the floor. If they fall out of your ear, no problem! Normally, this kind of earbuds have a long battery life, is that also the case with the Mifa S1? Let’s have a look!

Introduction & Specifications

Having a good pair of wireless earbuds is just great. No more struggles with tangled wires, just the freedom to move with (often) great sound quality. Looking at the specs, I believe this will be a decent product. The IP rating is a very nice addition and personally, I think that is needed for a pair of sports earbuds. You need to be able to wear them when you go for a run and it is raining. Can the Mifa S1 surprise me on more area’s?

Unboxing

On the front of the box, we already see a picture of the Mifa S1. In my case, there is a black version on the front while I have a black/red version inside. There are specifications on the back, which we see often. You have to open the box by sliding the inside out and the first thing you see is the Mifa S1. Underneath we find the usuals things when it comes to earphones. There is a small charger cable (micro-USB), a manual, and some new eartips in different sizes. This way you can make them fit you, no matter if you have small or big ears.

Hardware & Design

The neckband of the Mifa S1 feels solid and it looks good. Both thicker parts, which have batteries inside, looks solid. The earbuds connect to each other with magnets and there is an extra piece on each earbud so it will stay in your ear better. The buttons are easily clickable and you really feel that you click the button which I personally like.

There are only buttons and a microphone on the battery pack which has Mifa on it. The other side is just a battery pack. Overall, the materials look great, feels solid, and the buttons work well.

Do They Fit?

For me, as I experienced with other earbuds, it was no problem. I think I have easy ears. You can just plug them in and make sure the extra hook is properly attached in your ear so they won’t fall out of your easily.

Inside the box are also some other size eartips to make it easier for everybody to wear the Mifa S1. No need to wear any over-ear headphones while working out, this cheap pair of earbuds are a good option too.

How To Connect

First, of course, you have to turn it on. I will explain below how to turn the Mifa S1 on. When you turned it on, you have to go to the Bluetooth settings of your device you want to connect with. Here, you have to look for Mifa_S1 (surprise!). Click on it and connect and you are good to go! Enjoy your music while running or bike ride outside.

Functions

We simply don’t accept a pair of earbuds that just play music anymore. They must do more and offer more functions than just play and pause. Can we find more and unique features on the Mifa S1? Looking at the design, I do see more buttons than normal. Let’s see if Mifa can surprise me.

Battery Life

This is a very important feature. The battery life must be good for a pair of wireless earbuds to succeed. Because there is a neckband, you can not place the Mifa S1 in a charging case. There are two battery packs, one on each side, which should give you enough battery power. I’ve tested the battery life of the Mifa S1, charging them 100% and keep wearing them and listening to music at 60%-70% volume until it is empty.

With a fully charged pair of Mifa S1, you should be able to listen to music for a good 7 to 7.5 hours without charging in between. I think that is a fair amount of battery life, especially seen the price and size of the Mifa S1. Well done Mifa!

Call Handling

Call handling is rather easy. If you get an incoming call, you will hear that there is an incoming call but not the number or contact person associated with it. Pressing the power button once will answer the call. If you press and hold the power button, you will decline the call.
Ending the current call is the same as answering. Pressing the power button once will end the call.

I couldn’t find out how to mute the microphone. For what I tested, it seems to be not possible.

Music Handeling

When you want to pause your music, you have to press the power button once. If you want to play it again, you have to press the same power button again once to play your song again.
If you want your music to be louder, you have to press the volume + button.
When you want your music to be lower, you have to press the volume – button.
Sometimes you want to skip to the next song. If you want to do this, you have to press and hold the volume + button.
You might want to go to the beginning of a song. You can do that by pressing and holding the volume – button. If you do it again immediately, you will go to the previous song.

Power On/Off

On the Mifa S1, this is easy. There is a dedicated power button on the right side. You just click and hold the button until it turns on and do the same when you want to power it off. Super easy and I like the fact there is a dedicated button for it. This makes it not only easy to do but also easily understandable for everyone who is using the Mifa S1 or want to use one.

IP Rating

The Mifa S1 comes with an IP rating of IPX5. What does that mean? You can find out more about the IP Rating in THIS blog post. So, in this case, the Mifa S1 is protected against water a maximum of 12.5 liters of water per minute sprayed on it in any direction. Run outside or some heavy sweating is no problem at all for the Mifa S1. Take it outside, even if it rains!

Sound Quality

Well, we can not expect the best possible sound for this price. The BlitzWolf BW-FYE7 was a product that really surprised me, can the Mifa S1 do the same? Unfortunately no. The sound quality is not the best, but it is good enough for sporting or relaxing. Especially seen the price, this is a good performance from Mifa. We had some speaker, like the Mifa A1 or the Mifa F10 where the sound quality was higher, but the price is also higher. Overall, the sound quality is acceptable for the Mifa S1.

Call Quality

The call quality is good. There is a lot of background noise, but it doesn’t affect your conversation that much. You might want to look up a room that is quieter than a busy room full of people. The conversation will come through both earbuds, which makes it easy to hear and follow the conversation well. The microphone is also on the right battery pack. You are heard very well, no issues there.

Conclusion

Price-wise this is a great pair of wireless earbuds. The built quality is good, the looks are great, but the sound quality is not as good as I hoped. This is, of course, an important feature for earbuds. If we look at the battery life, we can not complain. You can easily enjoy the Mifa S1 for several hours while not having to charge it. There is no case to charge it between sports sessions. Calling is no issues as well. You are well heard and the conversation comes through both earbuds which makes it very easy to follow the conversation.

Overall, the quality is good and the sound quality is not super bad, it is just not the best I’ve heard. You can still enjoy your music and listen to it without being annoyed by the bad quality. Trust me. For this price, I’m happy with my purchase. Especially while working out.
