Investing in smart lights was one of the best things I did a few years ago. Now, with the BlitzWolf BW-LT21, BlitzWolf is trying to get on this market as well. Can they compete with brands like TP-Link, Philips, or Ikea? The BlitzWolf BW-LT21 is an LED smart light that works with different apps. Let’s see how this smart light is performing.
Introduction & Specifications
Automatically turn on the lights when it gets dark outside, turn all your lights off when you go to bed or turn them on when you wake up. With smart lights, you can schedule them to turn on or off at specific times, which is super handy. For example, when I lay down in bed, all the lights in the living room turn off. No worries and it saves money. Can we do the same with the BlitzWolf? We can set colors due to the RGB LEDs in there, but also white is available. We can connect the BlitzWolf BW-LT21 to three different apps. You will need a 2.4GHz WiFi network to connect the light, otherwise, it won’t work.

Unboxing
As always, the BlitzWolf BW-LT21 comes in a white box with a green top. On the front, we find the model name, BW-LT21. On the back, we find the specifications and on one of the sides, we find the efficiency chart (a to a++). Inside we find the installation guide, warranty paper, and the BlitzWolf BW-LT21 itself.
Hardware & Design
Looking at the light, it looks and feels a lot like the TP-Link smart lights. The BlitzWolf BW-LT21 is heavy and quite big, but it feels solid and durable. If we look at the design, there is nothing special to be seen. It is just a light and that’s it. The Yeelight Filament was way more beautiful if you ask me, but who sees your lightbulbs? Nobody I guess! You need the E27 connector to install this light, which is the most common one where I’m from.

Software
In order to use the BlitzWolf BW-LT21, you need the BlitzWolf/Smart Life app. Both apps are basically the same, but in this review, I used the BlitzWolf one. In this app, you can set up all your smart lights from BlitzWolf or the BlitzWolf BW-SHC1. Within the app, you can set the colors, configure schedules and just control the light. Here are some screenshots of the application and what you can do with it:

How To Connect?
Connecting the BlitzWolf BW-LT21 to the BlitzWolf app is easy and well described in the guide that is provided. You have to screw the BlitzWolf BW-LT21 in the E27 socket and flip the switch on-off-on-off-on. Now, the BlitzWolf BW-LT21 will blink rapidly and you can have to click on the “+” sign in the BlitzWolf app. Choose the Lightning tab on the left and click on the (Wi-Fi) option. Follow the steps and connect the light! Super easy! Here are screenshots on how to add the light:
Features
Just turning the light on and off is not enough. BlitzWolf always creates products with high quality and that is also the case with the BlitzWolf BW-LT21. You can turn on the lights using your smart assistant or the application, but what more does this smart light have to offer? Here are some of the other features of the BlitzWolf BW-LT21.

Warm White/RGB
Some lights just support white and warm white colors, that is not the case with the BlitzWolf BW-LT21. Within the BlitzWolf application, you can set RGB colors as well. I never use it, but sometimes it is fun to play around with, especially at a party or a rare occasion. The fact that BlitzWolf made a very affordable smart light that also supports RGB is only a good thing if you ask me! Happy that is there for those who want to use it.
Google Assistant
You can use the BlitzWolf BW-LT21 using your Google Assistant! This makes it possible to just as your Google Home to turn on or off the lights. Super handy and, if you ask me, a must-have feature for smart lights.
Amazon Alexa
Instead of only supporting Google Assistant, you can also control the lights via Amazon Alexa! If you have the Amazon Alexa speakers, you can just ask Alexa to turn on or off your light. Again, with the Google Assistant integration, this is a must-have feature for smart lights for me.
Schedules
Don’t want to ask Google every time to turn your lights on or off? Just create a schedule! With the schedule function, you can program the lights to turn on or off on preprogrammed times. Every day, your lights will turn on at 4:30 PM, when it gets dark outside. At 11:30 PM when you go to bed, they will turn off automatically. Super handy and a feature I always use when testing and using smart lights.
Scenes
There are specific preprogrammed scenes, like Night, Read, Meeting, and Leisure. Besides the preprogrammed ones, you have 4 scenes that you can set yourself and customize to your liking. If you like to have the lights at a specific brightness when watching a movie, a specific color when you are eating, or just a scene for a party? All is possible with the BlitzWolf BW-LT21.

Performance
Seen the price of the BlitzWolf BW-LT21, this smart light is a bargain. You can make custom schedules (which actually work), set RGB lights if you like. The lights are of great color and the warm white is pleasant to look at as well. It is not too bright, too sharp, or unpleasant. When you change the light in the BlitzWolf application, it reacts snappy and fast (sometimes even faster than the TP-Link lights!). The software and the BlitzWolf BW-LT21 itself are doing a great job so far.
Conclusions
Coming in at just $20, this is a very affordable smart light that does not require a hub or anything. Plug it in, set it up and you are good to go! The performance and materials used are of good quality as well and I’m really happy with the lights. Yes, there are more lights out there, but this is a good working light from a respected brand. I love it and would recommend it to people who are looking into buying their first smart lights.
The features, like the RGB, schedules, and scenes are a nice addition. The biggest value for me is good working software. I’ve not had it fail on me once. The only downside might be the size. I think the light is pretty big.
