The BlitzWolf BW-HL1 was not a success. It was too basic and just did not working very well. BlitzWolf tried again with the BlitzWolf BW-HL2! What a difference! This smartwatch is so much better, I honestly can’t wait to review this product. It looks great, it works amazingly well, this is how I expect a smartwatch to perform.
Introduction & Specifications
Having owned several smartwatches, I know what I want and what is expected of a good smartwatch. Recently we looked at the (not so good) BlitzWolf BW-HL1 and the Withings Steel HR, which is more a Hybrid Smartwatch. The BlitzWolf BW-HL2 looks like the Samsung Galaxy Gear Watch, but can it do the same? Looking at the specifications, I’m having high expectations!

Unboxing
Just like the BlitzWolf BW-AT1 or the BlitzWolf BW-HL1, the box is simple, almost identical, but clean and it looks good. On the front, we have the model name and on the back, we find minor specifications. Besides, that, on the box is no more information. When you open it, you see the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 and underneath the watch, we find the charging cable, the manual, and the watchband. No waste of materials or plastic, very well done!
Hardware & Design
Unpacking the BlitzWolf BW-HL2, it instantly reminds me of the Samsung Galaxy Watch, even though they might not look that similar. The design, the way to operate it, and just the feeling make me think of that watch. I like it! Being way cheaper then the Samsung Galaxy Watch, this is a good looking alternative.
The band feels good and solid but is not leather. It is actually silicone with leather on the top to make it look like leather. The materials of the dial feel good and solid, which I expect from a brand like BlitzWolf. The button clicks easily and is not too big that it will be annoying or sticking into your arm. The back of the watch hides the heart rate sensor, blood oxygen sensor, and the blood pressure sensor, as well as the charger, which are all waterproof.
How To Operate?
You can play around with the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 using all touch (and the one button on the side). I like this way of operating better than for example the Zeblaze Hybrid. Because it is all touch, it is another reminder of the Samsung Galaxy Watch. Sliding, clicking, and long-pressing all work really well and the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 reacts quickly, effectively, and I almost never had the watch not registering my touch.
If you swipe right on the watch, you get the menu with all the options like starting an activity, measure your heart rate, or find your phone. Swiping left you first see your sports data of that day, swiping more right, you will see your heart rate. Swiping up you will find your notifications, like your WhatsApp messages. If you swipe down, you get to the widget menu. From here you can just click on the widget to adjust the brightness for example.
Battery Life
Personally, I feel like you must be able to last a week with a smartwatch. Luckily, the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 is able to last for a week, with normal usage. If you don’t start that many activities, just use it for steps, notifications, and maybe sometimes your heart rate, you will likely last longer then a week. Charging the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 takes only around 2 hours and you are ready for another week of smartwatch usage. Amazing!
Charging is easy with the magnetic charger that clicks on the back. This is a waterproof method so you don’t have to worry about water leakage or something.
Software
The software is simple, but it works. I rather see BlitzWolf just use one application for all their smartwatch instead of different applications for different models. The BlitzWolf BW-HL1 and the BlitzWolf BW-AT1 are using the Da Fit app, while the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 is using the FitCloudPro application.
The application is simple, but it does the trick. Adding the smartwatch is super easy and you get to see your progress of that day on the home screen very easily. The application works well and it is easy to navigate through the menus as they are in logical places, but the application feels a bit too simple and I hope that BlitzWolf will make their own application with better design and UX. You can still get around using the FitCloudPro and it has all the functionality that we expect in an application that connects a smartwatch.

How To Connect?
Just like the BlitzWolf BW-AT1, connecting the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 to the FitCloudPro app goes really smoothly. Once you downloaded the application and registered your account, the application will ask you the set up a device. When you are searching for it, the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 will almost instantly appear and all you have to do is click Connect. It takes about 5 to 10 seconds and that’s it! The connection is made. Super easy and this is manageable for every user.

Watch Faces
Unfortunately, it is not possible to use custom made watch faces. BlitzWolf created and selected 5 available watch faces, which should offer something for everybody. We have the classic watch face, futuristic watch face, and the colorful watch faces. Personally I like the one in the picture at the top of the page, but you can pick one of the five or switch around with it and make it feel like you have a different watch every day of the week! I rather see the possibility to create and update the watch faces, like on the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 for example.
Notifications
Notifications are shown clearly and easily readable on the BlitzWolf BW-HL2. You can select from a long list of applications, as seen below. The most common and wildly used applications are in there, like WhatsApp, WeChat, Skype, Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat. With the support of all those applications, you never miss another notification. Simply turn them on from the FitCloudPro application and you are done, notifications will appear on your wrist now.
Features
A smartwatch without features is not a smartwatch. BlitzWolf made some other smartwatches, like the BlitzWolf BW-HL1 and the BlitzWolf BW-AT1. They all had features that you expect on a smartwatch. The BlitzWolf BW-HL2 also comes with several different features, like heart rate measuring, sleep tracking, activity tracking, notifications, and other health tracking capabilities. Just like we expected on the newer version of the BlitzWolf BW-HL1, on this model it all works just a little bit better and it all looks nicer. Let’s dive into the features a bit deeper.
Activities
With the BlitzWolf BW-HL2, you can track up to 6 different sports activities. You can track Walking, Running, Cycling, Climbing, Basketball, and Swimming. This covers most of the basic sports, but I miss indoor cycling as that is popular too. Besides that, you can get around with the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 and track your outdoor run, your cycle tour, or your early morning swim.

Sleep Tracking
Sleeping is essential. If you want to feel rested and wake up with energy, a night of good night sleep is a must. With the BlitzWolf BW-HL2, you can track your nights by just wearing the smartwatch. From the Home tab of the FitCloudPro app, you can click on sleep and you get a nice overview of the deep sleep, light sleep, wake time and total duration of the night. It is shown in a clear way so you can easily see if you had a good night’s sleep or you might need to improve some aspects of it.
Heart Rate Sensor
Improving your fitness level and becoming better at sports, your heart rate plays a vital role in that. With the BlitzWolf BW-HL2, you can track and monitor your heart rate. In the information screens after the workout, you can quickly see how you were performing and improve it in future workouts.
You can either track your heart rate on the watch itself or click on Health Measure via the FitCloudPro app. With the Health Measure, it will also measure your blood pressure and blood oxygen.
Waterproof
You can track your swimming sessions with the BlitzWolf BW-HL2, which means that the IP rating of this watch must be high. It is, with an IP68, you can safely take it for a swim, shower with it, or do the dishes while wearing the BlitzWolf BW-HL2. I’ve kept the watch in a bowl of water for 30 minutes and tested the functionality afterward. No issues at all, make it dry with a towel and you are good to go. Great feature.

Others
Just like the BlitzWolf BW-AT1, the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 can track more than just your heart rate, steps, and sleep. With this smartwatch, you can also track your blood pressure and blood oxygen. This gives you a nice and complete overview of your health and, knowing that it is not medically graded, it can give you some excellent insights. This is how blood pressure and blood oxygen are shown:
Conclusions
Comparing the BlitzWolf BW-HL1 to the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 is impossible. The two smartwatches are so different where one is just not good enough and the other is outstanding! The BlitzWolf BW-HL2 is a great smartwatch, that looks like the Samsung Galaxy Watch, to be honest. Of course, there are some improvements, like the limited amount of watch faces, a bulky watch, the software application, and maybe support from other health applications.
Besides that, the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 is definitely worth the money. The battery life is good, the looks are good, and it just works! I like the round watch design over the square Apple Watch style BlitzWolf BW-HL1. The software, FitCloudPro, is not the best out there, but it works and it lets you control the watch and make it really yours. However, I would like to see an improved and single application for all BlitzWolf smartwatches.
