We recently had a look at a few BlitzWolf watches, where some were better than the other. The BlitzWolf BW-HL1, the BlitzWolf BW-HL2, and the BlitzWolf BW-AT1 all looked different and the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 was by far the best smartwatch they produced so far. Now, the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 is released and I have high expectations of this watch. Let’s see if the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 is addressing some of the point of improvement of the previous model.
Introduction & Specifications
Having used all the available BlitzWolf smartwatches now, I must I liked the previous model very much. Hopefully, this model is even better and blows me away like the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 was such an improvement over the BlitzWolf BW-HL1. Looking at the specifications, I’m getting excited, but it is not a big difference compared to the previous model. The looks are great again, let’s find out of the performance are great too.

Unboxing
What a surprise! The watch and the box look identical, again! I like the design, but it is no surprise anymore how the box looks. We find the model name on the front with the green bars on the top and bottom. On the back, we find some specifications, not all. Besides that, there is no information or pictures of the product.

When opening, we see the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 first. The leather strap and the watch comes out great if you ask me. Underneath the BlitzWolf BW-HL3, we find the magnetic charger cable and the manual. That’s it! No more stuff and no excessive use of plastic. Lovely to see that BlitzWolf is keeping the packaging as minimalistic as possible.
Hardware & Design
Just looking at the BlitzWolf BW-HL3, I really like it. It is a bit bigger than the BlitzWolf BW-HL2, but it looks great. The hardware feels very solid and the watch itself feels very durable. The back, with the 3 heart rate LEDs are well-positioned. The leather strap feels great too. I doubt if it is real leather, but it feels and looks like it. Overall, I really like the design, hardware materials, and strap that BlitzWolf picked for this watch.
The watch might be a bit too big for some people. Just the watch is rather large and thick. I have medium to big arm and it is a big watch on my arms. If you have a small arm, you might want to consider the previous model as it is slightly smaller. When you can wear it, I’m sure it looks great on everybody.
How To Operate?
Operating the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 goes the same as the previous model. There is a fully working touch screen, which you use to swipe between the menus. When you want to enter a menu, you just click the screen. The button functions as a home button and, when pressing it, you will go back a step or go back to your watch face.
This is a pretty intuitive way of operating and it is comparable to using a Samsung Galaxy Watch or the Garmin Vivoactive 4L. It works really well and even on such a competitive price watch, the screen reacts really well. A great job is done by BlitzWolf.
Battery Life
With a fully charged battery, which takes around 2 hours, you can last for at least 7 days. This is with an activity every day, heart rate mode turned on and receiving notifications all day. When you use it less intensely, you will easily reach 7 to 10 days. Very good for a smartwatch with a screen of 1.3″ inch.

Charging is easy with the magnetic charger that comes with it. It is the same method as used in the previous model and you can just click it on there and it will charge. The design of this charging method is clever. There is no opening so the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 stays waterproof.
Software
No! BlitzWolf, please pick just one application and keep using that for all your future smartwatches. Now, with the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 and the BlitzWolf BW-AT1, I’ve had to use different applications. With this model, the BlitzWolf BW-HL3, I have to just yet another application. It would be so much easier to just pick or develop one single app and keep using that for your smartwatches.
For this model, we need an app called GloryFit. Basically, it overs the same functionality as the other applications, so I don’t get the change to another app. In the application, you can see your daily steps, heart rate, sleep, and other health statistics. You can start a Run, Walk, or Cycle ride. In the Device menu, you can change the device settings, like notifications, alarms, and the watch faces. And in the last menu Me, you can change your account settings. You can set your step target, create a training plan, or allow third-party access (WeChat Sports). It is a basic application, but it works well, it looks good, so I personally hope they stick with GloryFit.

How To Connect?
Registering and connecting the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 is super easy. Once you set up your account and you logged in, you need to click on “Bracelet” and it will start searching for the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 right away. Within a few seconds, in my case 5, it will find it and all you have to do is click on it to make the connection. This whole process will take around 3 to 5 minutes from downloading the application to using the BlitzWolf BW-HL3.
Like the previous models, the adding process of the BlitzWolf smartwatches is super easy. It is so easy to make the connection and start using the smartwatch.

Watch Faces
When I buy a smartwatch, I want to make it personal. Preferably, I want to change the watch face. The default watch faces sometimes just not look good, show the information I want, or are not my style. With the BlitzWolf BW-HL3, you can pick your own watch face in over 30 designs! You can match it with your current style, meeting, or mood. I really like the custom watch faces, as we saw on the Xiaomi Mi Band 4. Install the one you like and change it as often as you want. I really love this flexibility in smartwatches.
Notifications
On the BlitzWolf BW-HL3, you can set notifications for all applications. There are a few basics, like Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, WeChat, LINE, and Q Q. If your most popular app is not included in the list of already configured apps, you can click on “Select more app” and add your missing application. This ensures that you will get all the notifications and never miss one.
Features
Being the third model in the BlitzWolf BW-HL series, I have some high expectations of this model. The BlitzWolf BW-HL1 was a nightmare, but the BlitzWolf BW-HL2 was such a difference. Can BlitzWolf improve at this rate again with the BlitzWolf BW-HL3? We have all the features we saw in the previous model, like activities, heart rate measurement, sleep tracking, and other health statistics. The design is better and navigating the menus is way easier. Let’s have a look at the features of the BlitzWolf BW-HL3.
Activities
I like to have a lot of different sports activities available. You never know if you might go for a hike during your holiday or weekend off. Unfortunately, there are not that many sports available on the BlitzWolf BW-HL3, and I’m missing one that I do very often. Indoor Cycling is not supported, and I really find it a bummer if it is not there. Walking is also not available from the watch, but you can start a Walking activity from the GloryFit application.

Activities like Table Tennis, Tennis, and Badminton don’t add that much value. I rather see activities like Walking, Hiking, and Indoor Cycling become more available on smartwatches.

Sleep Tracking
A smartwatch would not be complete without sleep tracking. Luckily, it is available on the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 again. All you have to do is just wear the watch and it will start the sleep tracking automatically. Unfortunately, REM sleep is not supported. It will track Light sleep, Deep sleep, and Awake time. It still gives you a good overview of your night and if you had enough deep sleep to feel rested.

Heart Rate Sensor
On the BlitzWolf BW-HL3, I’ve set the heart rate measurement interval to 10 minutes. This means that every 10 minutes, it will measure my heart rate and store it in the application. In the GloryFit application, you can get a clear overview of your heart rate throughout the day. Even though this might not be the most accurate sensor, it still gives you an indication of your heart rate.
The BlitzWolf BW-HL3 will measure your heart rate with 3 LEDs. This should make it a more accurate reading and, during tests, it was not that far off from my Garmin Instinct or Garmin Vivoactive 4. That is a great accomplishment for a device in this price range.
Waterproof
With an IP rating of IP68, you can safely keep the watch on while taking a shower, while doing the dishes, or during a heavy rainstorm. Never worry if you are near water, the BlitzWolf BW-HL3 can handle it. I would not really swim with it or keep it on during a shower, but that is more a concern of the watchband. The BlitzWolf BW-HL3 watch itself can handle it just fine.

Swimming is one of the supported activities, so you can safely say that the watch is waterproof. Take it for a dip (without another band). How accurate the heart rate measurement is underwater, I don´t have a clue. I guess, because of the temperature of the water and the change in the skin, it will not be very accurate.
Others
The BlitzWolf BW-HL3 also supported other health features, like blood pressure and blood oxygen. We see this is many other smartwatches from China now. It is fun to have it tracked, but the data is not accurate. Even on the BlitzWolf BW-HL3, the data is likely to no be very accurate. That is OK, as long as you know it. Don´t assume this data is correct and take health-based decisions on the readings of these measurements.
Another fun feature is the “Shake to take a picture” function. If you want to be in a photo too, you can shake your BlitzWolf BW-HL3 and it will take a photo with your smartphone. Handy if you don’t want to be left out of every group photo as the photographer of the group. It is a fun addition.
Conclusions
The way of navigating might require a lot of swipes and clicks, but it works well and it is easy to see in what menu you are. If you have a small wrist, this might not be the watch as it is kind of big, but for some, like me, it is a great size and it looks great on your arm.
The BlitzWolf BW-HL3 is just a great smartwatch. If we compare this to the BlitzWolf BW-HL1, it is such a different and more developed product. The software, GloryFit, works great and it is easy to install the smartwatch. You can track the essentials, like heart rate and sleep, and get notifications of all your apps on your smartphone. The battery life is great and the materials used are premium. Almost a top of the line product!
